Private Message Spammers

Hi traders,

Today our private message system was spammed by a spammer by the alias of einstein. I have banned him immediately but it appears he has sent over 200 private messages. If you have received any private message from einstein, please delete it and ignore the message. Thank you.

It's funny you should say that because when I was here last night, I had a quick look at who was online and there were about 20 members online at the time. Then I looked and about 8 people were private messaging, all by names I'd never seen post.

Just seemed strange thats all.

Just click on the "Who's Online" feature and it shows what everybody is doing, whether they're reading a thread, searching forums or private messaging.

Yep This forum is being attacked severely by spammers. Luckily I have a system that detects reused ip addresses and shady email domains. However, I get about 7-10 emails warning me of this each day. Its pretty annoying. I will have to seek a better anti-spamming system as I can sense this is only going to grow.

And having to delete all the posts from spammers that make it through is tough to keep up on sometimes.

I have always wondered about the motivation of these folks. What kind of mentality does it take to anonymously wreak havoc in this fashion? I guess some people just have that particular emotional pathology. Sorry that the forum proprietors have to deal with it, but as previously posted, it probably will only get worse as more of these knuckleheads stumble in. Good luck.
