Nomination Feature - BETA!

Hi all,

I have always been wanting to create a system where members can earn credit for their contributions. As a result, I have implemented a nomination system in which members can nominate specific posts.

There is limit of 5 nominations per day per user. At the moment nominations are based on a monthly cycle. However, it may be more appropriate on a weekly cycle. Please feel free to add your inputs.

In order to nominate a post, users can simply click on the new Nominate button:

A poll will automatically be plotted on the top nominees where members can vote. (BETA at the moment.... looking into this as it does not seem to plot this automatically) Nominated users will receive awards (little ribbon images. Not cash! )

Great concept, James!

How about something more significant than "ribbon images" though. Like Amazon gift certificates or whatever you gave away for the funniest video of the year award.

Good idea fs. Amazon gift certificate will do. I should donate whatever amount certificate I get per month from amazon towards this contests. Hmmm.... maybe we could have some nice tech gadgets in the future as well. Like the Amazon Kindle? That looks pretty sweet.

Another possibility is for the winner to get a certain amount of months towards a premium membership. The concept being that they are still contributing, just not financially. This option could also have a slightly higher cash value than the gift card...like 6 months worth, etc. Just an idea to get more people on the premium side.

Actually I like that idea alot. Lets do that so that winner will receive 1 year premium membership as well. Makes more sense.

Nope still there. Just disabled on support, announcements, and general discussion forum as I doubt any thread will get nominated.
