Good movies?

Just thought I'd start a fun thread to learn more about fun movies! I'm about to watch Mongolian Ping Pong, which my sister said is awesome, and Genghis Blues, about a blues guy who dedicates his life to the art of Tuvan throat singing.

For what I saw recently... Lots of documentaries. Ones about Wal Mart (The High Cost of Low Prices) and their passion to ruin the world, "I Know I'm Not Alone" by Michael Franti (totally awesome musician. Tells his story of travelling through Iraq and Isreal singing and playing the guitar for people to learn about their thoughts on the war) and Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. That one was real fun 'cause of their trading rooms and such.

So...what are some good flix you folks have seen lately?

Here's my list of favorite movies and documentaries. I am an official movie junkie so my list is a little long.

I probably have around 30-50 more but its all I can think of for now.

Documentaries:

3. Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room
4. Conspiracy of the Moon
5. Fog Of War
6. Google Behind The Screen

Havent got a chance to see that many documentaries yet but I do enjoy them.

Having spent a little time over here in UK, I'm beginning to get a handle on their quirky humor.

My brother has a box set of the Ealing comedies, with the likes of: Margaret Rutherford, Alastair Sim, Will Hay, Kenneth More, Alec Guinness etc.

Some real funny movies amongst them. Favorites include: The Lavendar Hill Mob, The Ladykillers, The Mouse that Roared, Whiskey Galore & Passport to Pimlico. A lot of them hail back to the 40's & 50's, but they're real cool pictures nonetheless.

These guy's sure know how to make good movies!

Don't really get too much time to catch a whole lot of t.v but tend to go for the Nat Geographic documentaries when time permits.

Ah yes, Office Space...one of the all time greats I used to watch Boiler Room over and over; loved that film.

I haven't really seen many british films, though I may have to put em up on netflix and see some! BTW, texxas, you're in Boston? I used to live in backbay on the corner of mass ave and boylston...right at Berklee...cool to know yet another northeasterner.

They require patience LOL. You wouldn't think I'd spent years over this side of the pond by the blank expressions I still pull when their humor surfaces

I still have trouble deciphering some of their lingo & stuff, but those movies are really cool.

Yeah, one of our sisters is a 'pizza junkie' & frequents 'Stevies' up that neck of the woods (near Fenway?), I think that's on Boylston someplace.

Long time since I've lived there to be honest, we hail out of Beacon Hill. I've had more goddamned parking tickets there than anywhere else on earth

Still, home is home wherever in the world you find yourself.

Man, Requiem for a Dream is awesome, but it makes me want to go off in the woods and blow my brains out!

Heat is definitely up there..I also like Collateral....and Anchorman. LOL

HAHA!! Many a Nicholas Cage movie have made me laugh my ass off. He's so peculiar in his style, that it's hard to take him seriously sometimes...

I agree with you on that one. Like in Raising Arizona, then he translates over to something like 8mm and the whole time you're half expecting something funny to come out of his mouth.
