Getting Started in Photoshop
So I think I want to finally learn how to use photoshop...
![]() Question is - where do I begin? Anyone have any videos or websites they recommend for a complete noob to go to? Books will NOT work for me. I am visual. Need to see it to learn it. I'm open to any ideas, so throw 'em out if you got 'em.

Re: Getting Started in Photoshop
I would suggest just jumping in and altering photos. If there is anyway you can downgrade back to photoshop 4 it might be easier too. IMO there really hasn't been anything to add to the program since then, all the new features after that are pretty niche.
Tools to focus on are lasso/rectangle selector thing, understanding layers, eraser, color balance, levels...then more advanced..dodge/burn tool, layer blending options, using pathes to select/delete parts of an image. You can pretty much do anything to a photo with just those when you start combining them. Painting is a whole other story. I have no talent with drawing so I've never bothered. Like this stuff is just mind blowing |

Re: Getting Started in Photoshop
Follow up - should I just go w/ CS3 since it's the most recent?

Re: Getting Started in Photoshop
That's what I use. I always like to stay up to date with the newest versions. As for graphic artists darthtrader is correct about very little changing. The majority of the updates have to do with digital photography (out of the camera) and working with RAW files. I would still suggest learning on the newest though since you might as well get used to the new layout.
