Institutional?

Could someone give me a good definition of what it means to use an "institutional" broker?

Why does it benefit a trader to go this route?

More perks? access?

That just means that the trader is trading within a firm or as an insitutional trader or a prop trader, thus comissions are significantly lower compared to the average retail trader.
