Second hand charting software

Is it possible to buy second hand charting packages ? What are the pros and cons of this ?

I am looking for Dynamic trader 4 or 5. Does anyone know of anyone who wants to sell one ?

Re: Second hand charting software

I would venture to say that most software in their license agreement will not allow you to resell their software.

Re: Second hand charting software

With a lot of software (not just charting) you purchase a licences to use it, this is usually not transferable in the standard agreement (that most people click on but don't read when they install stuff). Having said that a producer may allow you to transfer it if you contact them. For example, I know a while back TSSupport did allow people to transfer the licence this might not be the case now that the price has gone up 30 fold from the price early adopters paid.

Re: Second hand charting software

It also varies between versions.

For example, in MetaStock v7.2 and below you were able to transfer the license to another party (or simply give them the software if you had never filled in the registration card). From v8 onwards they changed the license agreement to read "non-transferrable".

I may be mistaken in that it started in v9 though. But for all intents and purposes not much has changed in Metastock since v7 anyway.
