Trading Results - Series I
Posted 04-18-2008 at 01:57 PM by FX_Cowboy
I have now completed my first series of "real" trading with this setup and trading plan. The results continue to indicate that the setup has an edge. Given my present circumstances (working full time with occasional but increasingly frequent travel, and a demanding work schedule), this trading plan -- trading a single setup only a couple of hours a night -- is probably the best I can do for now in terms of reaching my goal to trade professionally.
I've loaded my charting program on my laptop, and have found that even during business trips, I can still comfortably get up in the middle of the night (or stay up late when I'm on the West Coast) and trade during my two hour window.
Following are the results of my first trading series, encompassing 15 trading days since March 27. There were two days I did not trade because I wanted to catch up on my sleep.
Total trades: 28
Winners: 20
Losers: 8
% Winners: 71.4%
Avg. Win: 16.1
Avg. Loss: 18.2
Avg. Trade Size (pips): 16.7
Pips Won: 323.0
Pips Lost: 145.9
Net P/L (pips): 177.1
Max Winning Streak: 6
Max Losing Streak: 2
Based on these results, I will continue trading my plan without changes for another month or so.
At the beginning of this latest series, I instituted a money management strategy that calls for setting my trade size at a constant percentage of my allowed trading margin. Since on average I have been winning more than losing, my trade size has slowly been increasing through the series. My inclination then is to simply let my account grow through the profits generated by the trades, and by increasing my trade size in this controlled manner.

an enjoyable read. Your obvious attention to detail & your discipline are a credit to you.
I won't wish you luck as it's clear you won't require it, instead I'll wish you continued good trading ![]() |

Thanks Tess, and my apologies for the late reply. I've been traveling and didn't notice your kind comment until just today.
My system actually had a down series last month -- it was very slightly negative over a period of irregular trading, which may have skewed the results. (I'll be updating my blog soon with the details.) I'm still comfortably positive overall, and am trading the system in a new series (with better results) and monitoring the statistics carefully. |
