The purpose of this blog is to provide a comprehensive compilation of articles and posts which have been of great help to me in the past, or that I find very insightful, wise or containing a great deal of useful knowledge.

The original author of the text will be mentioned, so that those who are interested in the subject can explore it deeper.

The blog will consist out of several categories, some more theoretical, other containing charts and analysis.

Finally, this blog is, in a way, a continuation of the journal

From average trader to good trader I consider myself to be an average trader, I still suffer from several 'issues' which prevent me from taking full advantage of the market. Some of these are within me, others are because the plan isn't adjusted. In this blog I'll try to describe these ele

... something I realized is that my trading has made a big step forward ever since I switched from 5-min entries to 1-min and sub 1-min TF... given the extraordinary volatility we are experiencing the last couple of months it not only gives the advantage of an early entry, but more importantly a very tight stop.

Dilemma...

Posted 10-16-2008 at 10:20 AM by firewalker
I set myself the rule not to open new positions after US lunchtime, as a form of protection against giving profits back and also because I prefer to manage a winning position then enter a new one near the end of the day.

However, last two weeks I've been papertrading the rest of the day, and very often I see a good trading opportunity arise, and indeed it's a profitable one.

I have noticed over the course of the last weeks that when I enter a trade, I usually have some sort of target in the back of my head. Often this target gets reached, but not before I exited my position. This has caused some frustration on my part. In the end I have to focus myself on trading the plan and remind myself that instead of being right, being profitable is more important!

I have been right on several occasions in the last two weeks,...

Review of May 12 - May 17

Average week. Good trades on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Bias on Thursday, because of the action on Wednesday night and the picture on the daily chart, prevented me from taking the long side. It turned out to be another trending day.

Missed trade on Friday, because the train left the station right at the open, although it was screaming at me for a short from 13030. Definitely bit of frustration there!
