Help With Monthly Charts - Volume Query

Hi All,

I am new to Technical Analysis. Regarding the charts, I have one query.

For calculating volume for weekly\monthly charts , we need to add the volume of all trading days of week\month or should we need to take the average of the week\month.

not sure if I understand what you are asking...


average is simply the total divided by the number of units.

Total is what is commonly used.

hmm...What if there is holidays during the week. There are 2-3 off day in last week of Dec. Vols will be less in this case. Will this not skew the chart?

Sure. And some months might have 1-5 more trading days than another. That would skew monthly volume. Even with daily bars, some days are half-trading days but still show up as daily bars but volume will be light.

Here's another way to look at weekly and monthly volume...using volume at price profiles:
