Hey guys, I really need your help understanding something about FINRA.

I have to understand why the securities firms register to FINRA?

I search FINRA's site and it says that it regulates all the securities firms in US, but if you search the site more closely there are some pages that seems to give the firm the oprtion to register or not!

My doubt is if the securities firms in US are required by SEC to register to FINRA or is it optional? If it is mandatory, is there a page that could confirm it, please?

If not, why do they register?

Really need it as fast as possible... I appreciate if anyone could help me, with any kind of information!
