interactive brokers start at $4.80 a RT for most futures. They are certainly not the cheapest but they are a good yardstick.

It all depends how big is your transaction...Those pay-per-transactions brokers are making a killing from people that actually are not using properly: i.e they have small number of shares in every trade. You should try interactive brokers, but they have a per-share fee: 1$/100shares...7$/1000 shares ..etc

Re: What is the cheapest per market transaction online...

If you trade in 1000 share blocks, scottrade will be cheaper than TS (this assuming you are satisfied with the ST platform). If you scale in/out or trade in 100 share lots, you will get fleeced using ST, TD, E trade etc. Forex, options, futures trading ability is another area to consider.

If you have determined your trading style and have a solid understanding of # shares per trade, holding time, chart requirements etc, you can make an educated decision on brokers. IB is cheap, but you may need a front end (see IB website

http://individuals.interactivebroker...&ib_entity=llc ) for the list.

TS has an incredible platform, E signal has benefits but needs a broker feed, etc.

Try Independant Brokers in Chicago. They are just about the cheapest for futures contracts, which I trade. Only 1 to 2 dollars a contract each way.

Do you have a website for Independent Brokers?
