I wonder why somebody needs to post such nasty comments.Maybe they were ill-treated as a child?
Come on Bob let's try and be fair and objective, the thread starter must of expected a bit of resistance with such a theatrical entrance. I'm sure he's a big boy and can deal with a little gentle criticism. If not this is all going to end in tears.

....but coming from Ipswich I imagine he's cried many times before..... (joke)

I've seen similar types of threads on boards all over the place and I often wonder what inspires people to create them? and what's the goal? ..... create great traders? I have my doubts.

They in general tend to have quiet a macho theme which is interesting, but they can also contain some good stuff too if you can be bothered to wade through the "trader comedy".

No, this discourse is about being fused to beliefs and feelings that take us for a ride without our ever really knowing it -- so consumed by the fire of the emotion. Now apply that to trading.

Ah the good ole doc and the reason we're all here.
Time for a little experiment.A demonstration of why Rande who has never made or lost one thin dime in the market doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.
THERE ARE NO EMOTIONS IN TRADING IF YOU ARE A TRADER

CASE STUDY -1

This demonstration is for wannabe traders designed to see if you have what it takes or whether you are wasting your time
I'll be the doc in the following scenario because Rande can't help you.

Wannabe- hi doc i got a problem with trading
Doc-have a seat.Ready to do the test?
W- Yes
D- OK. the market opens in 5 minutes you got the chart in front of you.Are you fully conversant with your setup?
W- oh yeah that's not a problem
D- good.well, when you see your setup i want you to enter the trade and tell me what price you got ok? Now,i won't be looking over your shoulder,as that might put you off,so i'm going to stand by the window and eye up the secretary having her lunch on the bench.Your holy grail secret will be safe from prying eyes ok?
W- sure,uh,but i don't have a holy grail secret.
D- yup,i know ...jeez if only i wasn't married.....
W- What?
D- nothing, don't worry about what i'm doing, because what i'm doing will never make you a penny in the market, concentrate on looking for your setup. That's what makes you money...or not.
W- Damn,,,
D- What's the problem?
W- i missed the setup I was wondering what she looks like
D- who?
W-That secretary
D- No,,,There is no secretary that was a rumour. You got distracted by the rumour and missed your setup.Lesson?
W- don't listen to rumours?
D -And?
W- concentrate on looking for my setup.
D good.....good, wow she brought her friend with her....
W- ok , buying 1294.7
D- Good...Good .And what is next?
W- what do you mean...er wait?
D- TARGET? STOP?..jeez TARGET STOP.. what do you think?...we're going to have tea with the Queen?
W- Target X stop Y
D- Fine ......................... ......
D- Tell me when it hits your stop or target
D

W- ok doc,it uh looks like it's gonna hit my stop....

D-
W- DOC.... DOC.... DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCCC!!! !!!

D- What are you yelling for?
W- you were on the headphones uh my stop just got hit
D- Excellent so you're out are you?
W- No
D- No?....What d'you mean no?
W- uh..i'm gonna let it ride a while..it might come back.
D- fine $7000
W- no its only losing 50 bucks
D--No no no no no..my fee $7000 You failed the test (suprise suprise)
W- But i thought you were a psychologist and you were gonna fix me
D-No, i'm not a psychologist,i'm a trader and i'm telling you that you can't be '' fixed'' And btw,a psychologist can't fix you either, only you can, since you already know what to do and he doesn't. If psychologists could fix traders the 90% failure rate would drop to about 5%.Simple logic when you think about it. Course, they won't tell you that though.

W- but jeez,$7000 is a bit steep
D- Well we all got bills to pay and i've lost a days trading through you.Besides,JohnW reminded me the other day that i owe my club $7000

And how will you know if the advice and guidance is worth anything? Are you planning to fail before you even started?
Now if you had said something like "hey guys,, i'm looking for inspiration..some food for thought".... you see the difference there?
Do you realise, right there, that i have potentially saved you several wasted years? You can't appreciate that right now,but trust me,that suggestion is worth precious years of your life.
So what do you reckon several years worth of advice should cost you?

I reckon the advice plus your initial trading losses is worth about $50k
How would you like to pay cash?.. cheque?......wanna pay in installments?

How about i show you my holy grail trading system and you start paying me out of your profits as you go along?
'Course, i'd have to hold a shot gun to your head to get you to stay in the trade till it hit the target. Would you be comfortable with that.or would you prefer to sweat it out on your own after 3 years of careful study?

Are you sure trading is for you? I mean how much d'ya want it?..bearing in mind that it doesn't make any difference cos the market doesn't give a damn about you.

How are you gonna get to the answers if you don't know even what the questions are?

How you respond....well...it could determine your fate

Re: Predators Academy

I don't think trading is war. Often I find when I get too aggressive that it takes me out of the important learning-feedback market loop. I kinda chuckle when traders talk about defending their positions. There are thousands of contracts/shares traded every price. Even the biggest traders are small compared to the market.

I second that...clearly we are all providing our opinions, thats all this is about. My opinion is just as good as anyone else's. I express my opinion without hesitation....everyone who logs in has the same opportunity to provide their 2cents

I certainly won't be a punching bag for some whacko working out his emtional problems on the Internet....and I don't think you want to be one either....

Good luck in the markets

If you have time, I would also use the Internet to hit the exchanges (NYSE, CME, CBOE....etc) each of them has an educational section that can be helpful to you..

Stay away from vendor offers and other service providers until you have some background on which to judge...

Develop a reading list and hit your library (or Amazon)....it can be done provided you take time and stay away from live trading until you have a solid sense of what you want to accomplish.

Good Luck

Re: Predators Academy

Mit: Maybe it's too early in the morning here but I'm not sure what the point of this thread is... Philosophy, Nievatae, Trading Life is a Metaphor ?

Is this guidance for the newbie? Does the newbie take away anything of value that brings context, reality, clarity, a functional solution?

I'm not writing this to be critical... I am writing because I have missed the point you are trying to make.

What value does this thread bring to the community and especially who this is specifically meant for? How it helps. What is the Take-Away.

I've read this far and I have missed the point and I suspect there is some value so please help me out.

This is one of the best quotes about trading I have ever heard
