Re: Soybeans
torero, have you tried the composite of pit and electonic? @W.C. This is what I use.

Re: Soybeans
No, but I'll take a look at it. The problem which one is more reliable: composite, pit only, or electronic only? In ER2, the support/resistance are not so different between the 2, but in wheat, wow! It's like night and day. That't my concern.
The two charts, below shows the Friday's close, with one chart above the support and the below resistance. This is what is driving bananas. ![]() ![]()

Composite for sure.

Re: Soybeans
I'm a bit reluctant with these mini-ags due to their low liquidity, unless my assumption is wrong.

Re: Soybeans
Carter thinks you will be fine with them if just testing out. Liquidity won't be a problem because you are not trading size. When you want to trade size then just trade 1 big grains contract. Remember that the big grains contract are the same as the mini-dow in terms of size. So a mini grains is really a mini-mini-grains.

Re: Soybeans
Keep in mind that there are 8 ticks to the cent on the mini-Ags, versus 4 ticks on the regular grain contracts.
Plus each tick is only worth $1.25 (yes, one dollar and 25 cents US) per contract versus $12.50/tick on full size grains. So for most folks, it really isn't worth their while, when slippage and commissions are taken into effect. Also, and this is perhaps most important, they are still pit-traded contracts at the CBOT. The electronic version is due to go live shortly, according to the press release here: CBOT - CBOT to Launch Mini-Sized Ag Contracts on E-CBOT Last edited by cooter; 04-09-2007 at 03:02 AM. |

Re: Soybeans
FYI, the mini-ags are pit traded. Not electronic. the spreads are wide and at times are the same in dollar risk compared to the full size contracts. My suggestion if one wants to get into the ags, start with corn. lots of volume and not as erratic as beans or wheat. Don't even bother with oats for day trading. You even got the bean complex to consider. Meal ($10/tick) and oil ($6/tick)
