Editing Your Profile

Once logged in, users are able to edit your profile. Editing will allow others to see background information about you such as years of trading, current trading platform, current broker, name, and other personal information. This is an optional feature and you can choose to show select information only.

To get started, refer to the profile button located in the top navigation bar:

Please refer to the following picture with labels 1-7 for the following description.

#1 Edit Profile - When clicking on this section, it will take you to your main profile page where you will be able to input your location, gender, date of birth, instant messager handle names, interest and hobbies, trading platform, broker, number of trading years, and a biography about yourself.

Users also have the option to display your profile public, private, or friends only.

Within the profile editing section, the sections labeled trading years, favorite market, broker, and trading platform will appear next to your username when posting a thread or reply. If you choose to leave this part blank, nothing will show.

You can also change your email and password in the edit profile page. Users also have the ability to include a snapvine user profile. Snapvine is an online free voice mailing system in which users can call your personal snapvine number to leave you a message. An example can be seen in my profile. In order to enable snapvine on the forums, you will first need to create a new account with snapvine and then simply include your own snapvine Profile ID in the edit profile section.

#2 Edit Options - This section allows users to edit forum related options such as receiving emails from admin, enabling and disabling private messaging, sorting threads, thread subscription modes, timezones, etc... This part is fairly self explanatory.

#3 Edit Signature - Editing signatures is available for premium members only. Signatures can consist of text and links. Any spam related signatures will be removed so please keep this area clean. Common signatures include personal information or favorite quotes.

#4 Edit Avatar - At Traders Laboratory, most of our avatars are custom made and not available anywhere else on the net. We encourage users to select an avatar of choice or their own custom avatar. Any offensive images will be taken down.

Avatars are seperated into different categories and themes. Users can also upload one directly from their PC or link to an external URL.

#5 Private Messages - This button will take you directly to your private message mailbox. Private messages are internal messages that members can send to other messages using our system. Think of it as an internal emailing system.

#6 Buddy List - This button takes you to the buddy list managing menu. You can simply add other members to your buddy list or ignore list. This is helpful if you want to keep your personal profile or blog private or to friends only. Placing a member on your ignore list will ignore all private messages sent by the member.

#7 Subscribed Threads - This will take you to the currently subscribed threads menu. You can remove subscription to threads in this menu. To learn more about thread subscription and adding specific threads to favorites, please visit this section.

Quick Links
