I don't think the Fed really cares about the weakness of the $. I don't Greenspan used the $ as a criteria on economic policy. Only concerned about inflation and debt and of course the tech bubble, 9/11 and the housing bubble. Cheap $ will certainly bring more investors in, which is what Europeans are doing with purchasing real estate in US.
