Update - this software -
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/ - is incredible for what I needed. I just put the file in make some text changes if I want and off it goes. No need for extra codecs and stuff like that, it's one simple and easy solution.
Highly recommend (so far).
